Avatar: Deborah Ann Woll
Personality:
Esther has her father’s wit and compassion, yet she has her own personality traits. First of all, she is not the most outgoing person in the world. Second of all, she can be quite scatterbrained at times and rather clumsy. Yet, she always thinks things through and is quick to make decisions. The girl is quick to learn things and always to stay optimistic.
She has some weaknesses in her personality. One of them is that she is a people pleaser. It is rare that you will hear her say no. This leaves it open for people to take advantage of her. Sometimes she doesn’t even realize it. Also, she is not the most organized person in the world. Her room is cluttered, not with garbage though. She would never leave garbage laying around.
Power Description:
She has the power to turn into a ball of blinding light. It is not heat, just light. It can cause varying degrees of eye damage when looking at the light. Though, she can’t do more harm than blinding someone. It is rare that people are born with powers already manifested, but it does happen. It happened to her. Xavier was able to suppress it into dormancy when she was three. But it manifested again when she turned 13.
Power Weaknesses:
All she can do is blind people. Though it does prove useful in battle, her power is no good if people aren’t looking at her or are wearing protective shades. She also has no degree of invulnerability, so she can still get hurt like anyone else can. Also, she has to wear protective shades when she uses her power, or else she could blind herself.
Fighting Skills:
Fencing, Acrobatics
Family: Graydon Creed (father), Mathilde Konig Creed (mother), Kurt Wagner (Adoptive father, uncle), Raven Darkholme (grandmother), Victor Creed (grandfather), Anna Marie Darkholme (aunt)
Contacts: Wolverine (mentor)
Enemies: the Brotherhood, Acolytes
History:
It was a snowy night, just after midnight. Mathilde woke from her sleep because she started to have contractions. Because of the snow, there was no getting to the hospital. Esther was born at home, delivered by her father Graydon. Within a few minutes of Graydon cradling his daughter, she turned into a ball of light. Startled, he dropped the baby. It landed on the bed next to her mother. The light was so bright that it blinded her mother because she looked at it for longer than 10 seconds. Graydon had turned away. Once the light faded, he looked over at the infant. He became angry that he produced a mutant child. He grabbed the baby and left the house, trudging through the snow. His first thought was to take her to the river and do away with her, so he headed to the river. There were blocks of ice but it wasn’t iced over because of the speed the water moved. As he turned to leave he could smell the faint scent of brimstone. Appearing before him, was his brother Kurt.
Kurt had been staying in the area, to keep watch over his brother. He knew that his wife was due to give birth anyday and was staying in a nearby hotel. Not being able to sleep, he was out taking a walk when he spotted his brother and infant. Kurt had the infant in his arms. He looked over at his brother sadly. It was sadness, not anger. Kurt took the child back to the monastery. His own eyes were immune to her powers because they were demon eyes. They could see in extreme light and extreme dark. The ball of light she turned into while at the monastery reminded him of the Christmas star. So he gave her the name Esther.
When she was three, she blinded a few of the monks. Because of this she was cast out. Kurt decided to go to New York and take her with him to live at Xavier’s School For Gifted Children. Xavier was able to put a block on her powers so they wouldn’t manifest until puberty. They manifested when she was 13. She has since learned a fair amount of control.
Sample Post:
It was way past bedtime. Esther looked over at her alarm clock. It read 4:00 AM. The girl found herself wide awake. She kept thinking of her father. She missed him a lot. But she never sat and mourned him, no. He just became more of an inspiration to her, to do good in the world. Because she’d have to get up in a few hours anyways, she decided to leave the bedroom. The mansion was somewhat terrifying at night. The only light came from the moon which shone through the windows.
Esther made her way to the kitchen where she poured herself a glass of milk and sat down to enjoy it. The clock continued to tick. She didn’t understand why she hadn’t been getting much sleep yet she didn’t want to bother anyone with that problem.
The mansion was so quiet at this hour. It was almost creepy.
Out of the silence, she heard the elevator ding. It was out in the hallway, but the complete silence made it easy to hear a sound like that. Someone else was awake.
